Press Release upon the death of the Queen
We at The Intercontinental Church Society, alongside so many others, mourn the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. For many of us she had been our Queen for all our lives, we have known nothing else. Her legacy will live on for many years. She will be remembered for many reasons, the longest reigning monarch, her fortitude. Her strong Christian faith and commitment.
Her Majesty the Queen was Patron of the Intercontinental Church Society from 1952 to 31 December 1999. On her 80th birthday she relinquished the position. The Society was granted royal patronage in 1834 when King William IV became patron, and it has enjoyed the uninterrupted patronage of successive sovereigns to Queen Elizabeth II. In 1958, Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh paid a state visit to St Mary’s Church, Rotterdam for the celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the Church.
May she rest in peace and rise in Glory.
