Since being appointed Local Environment Officer in January, I have registered St Peter’s as an Ecochurch within the Diocese of Europe.
EcoChurch is an award scheme run by A Rocha UK (an international Christian organisation for nature conservation) equipping churches to care for God’s creation, which is the fifth Mark of Mission. By completing an online survey, churches can be considered for an Ecochurch award at either Bronze, Silver or Gold level. The scheme offers lots of practical resources and ideas which we at St Peters can use to assist us in our ambition to better care for God’s creation and to reduce our carbon footprint.

Over the next months, we hope to be able to share via the bulletin and the website, everyone’s Top Tips for Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, and Repairing in their everyday lives, or more generally, through a local association, caring for this beautiful area in which we are privileged to live. I know these are subjects close to the hearts of our young people and look forward especially to hearing from them.

Todays Tip

In these gloomy days it’s important to recognise the progress that HAS been made in caring better for God’s earth.

Salmon are returning to rivers and the original hole in the ozone layer has been closed.

Do you have a practical tip to share?

Here’s mine – Only fill the kettle with enough water for the number of cups of tea/coffee you are making.

To contact the Environment Officer please direct Ecochurch tips & enquiries to: admin@stpeterschantilly.org and they will be forwarded
